"This is the second event recently and you did a great job. Kyle & Obby were particularly good and really engaged with the children and the parents, everyone has made comments of how funny they were and the children were kept captivated. The show they put on at the end kept everyone focused especially the children (this is some achievement as some of the children have attention deficit disorder). Could not say enough about these guys really entertaining and would definitely use again"

"Just wanted you to know what an amazing day both children and adults had on Wednesday, even with their embarrassments! The children came back to class animated and there was a definite buzz about circuses, from both boys and girls.  The peacock feathers are definitely a hit.  The adults enjoyed the difference of the activity and the obvious exhilaration the children experienced. Check out our website for photos www.st-catherines.org Thank you again for your time and the lovely rapport you developed with the children. Take care and enjoy the Bank Holiday weekend, fingers crossed for the weather!  Weren’t we lucky! "

"I just wanted to feedback to you following the workshop last week. We were really pleased with the workshop. Obby managed the young people really well. As you may be aware we are a fostering organisation so all of the young people in attendance are currently living with Foster Parents. They can be challenging at times and when together in a group this can heighten the behaviours they exhibit. Obby showed the young people how to use all the different equipment clearly and with humour. He spent time with those that struggled and encouraged them when necessary. He was able to sense when to move things along and made sure that everyone felt included, even staff! At the end of the day, young people had the opportunity to show Foster Parents what they had learnt which was lovely to see"

"A big sunny thank you to you all!  It was fantastic & you all worked really hard! The 2 days with Circus Sensible were wonderful. On Friday the children had a fabulous time learning all the circus skills & watching the show. Saturday was our school fete day. The feedback so far from people is that it was the best yet!  The big top made a fantastic centre piece to the fete. The shows & workshops kept the crowds entertained throughout the day. The balloon modelling was also a big hit too, nearly everyone had a fish or alien tucked under their arm as they left. The weather was perfect & your team really entertained everyone & didn't stop until the very end. Everyone left smiling & laughing & we raised a few pounds for our PTA funds too!  Thank you Circus Sensible I would recommend you to anyone & would certainly have you back again"

The Science of Circus

"Complex tasks such as juggling produce significant changes to the structure of the brain, according to scientists at Oxford University. In the journal, Nature Neuroscience, the scientists say they saw a 5% increase in white matter - the cabling network of the brain." In brief, learning a new skill such as Juggling can hard wire our brains to work better and faster! Circus skills help develop and improve concentration skills. This is particularly evident in those children with shorter attention spans. When we run Circus skills workshops in schools the teachers are often amazed that one or more children who usually have a problem concentrating are doing better than anyone else in the class! Learning Circus skills also offers great benefits in terms of physical co-ordination and physical fitness. Circus workshops fit very well into the school curriculum under PE and co-ordination development. In fact there are many areas where Circus workshops offer great opportunities for curriculum enrichment.

Activities such as Circus skills have been used with great success as an educational tool, as an aid to learning as well as therapeutically with children at risk and with children with special needs. Autistic children have been observed to respond particularly well to Circus skills in schools. Circus skills are an opportunity for children and adults to discover and develop skills such as Concentration, Information retention, Concept visualisation, hand eye co-ordination and self awareness. These skills can then be used in many other settings including social situations and in conventional educational settings whilst learning the core subjects.
